Oracle has recently stated that it has hired more than 800 new salespeople in Asia Pacific as part of its commitment to become the world's largest enterprise cloud company. This positive momentum occurs just three months after the company launched a campaign to increase its sales workforce by 1,000 in an effort to capitalize on the growth of cloud computing across APAC.

Oracle's fiscal fourth-quarter results announced on June 17th showed that the company overachieved in cloud, with cloud revenue already above a $2.3 billion annual run rate. Oracle sold $426 million in new Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) business this quarter, more than any cloud services company has ever sold in a single quarter.

"We are seeing significant momentum in our cloud business in Asia Pacific as more companies embrace cloud computing," noted Loic Le Guisquet, President, EMEA & APAC. "Cloud is transforming businesses, and Oracle understands that this fundamental change requires not only the best technologies, but also the best people. Our recruiting initiatives have already been tremendously successful and we are excited to expand our sales force to help guide more companies through their cloud
transformations."

The new cloud salespeople come from a wide array of backgrounds, from established IT companies to newly founded start-ups. This brings both valuable experience as well as fresh enthusiasm. New recruits also come from line of business positions in a wide variety of industry sectors such as finance, manufacturing, telecoms and utilities, so they already speak and understand the same language as customers in those industries.

Shailender Kumar, Vice President and Regional Managing Director, Oracle India, said: "We believe we are game-changers in the cloud space, and that technologies as well as people are equally important in our strategy to capture cloud opportunities. Keeping in line with growing demands, our recently launch recruitment campaign has already achieved 80% of our hiring target. The momentum is a clear indication of the confidence India's talent pool has in Oracle and reiterates the potential for Oracle to become the number one cloud vendor in the world."

Technology and people are equally important in Oracle's strategy to capture cloud opportunities in Asia Pacific. Oracle is the only company that can deliver a complete, integrated, standards-based suite of services at every layer of the cloud. As customer cloud adoption rates continue to accelerate, Oracle's cloud salespeople will be fully equipped to enhance customer success and play an integral role in driving the region's cloud transformation.
