'Solutions on Demand', a concept propagated with the onset of open source technologies is what claimed by every open source solutions provider these days. For many, it's a mere selling line to attract customers; for others, it's a passion, commitment and a constant endeavor to build and provide solutions that fit well into the customers' organizations rather than forcing customers to make themselves fit for the solutions. Belonging to the second and rare category is SOD Technologies Pvt Ltd., a name that not only expands to 'Solutions on Demand' but also reflects its philosophy through actions. Steadily making its move towards becoming a leading player in the ADempiere ERP space, SODTech is riding high on success and is a proud organization whose 90 percent of the clients have remained loyal to it for more than 7 years now. Making its presence felt across globally, the company has been chosen as a supporting technology partner of International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS).

When SODTech determined to enter into the ERP space, it evaluated different proprietary and open source ERP solutions to find the best alternative for organizations of all sizes. It realized that in times of economic feebleness like that of the recession in 2008, many organizations, especially SMEs find it difficult to continue using proprietary software considering the terms of license and annual maintenance cost. Even large organizations that deploy proprietary ERP systems use other solutions around the same considering the cost in the future. "We made a comprehensive analysis of different ERP solutions in the market and found ADempiere a great fit for both SMEs as well as large organizations. Our successful solution deployments for some of the large organizations like Spices Board India, Aramark India, Finest Group, Axis Bank and MTN are testimonies of the value that ADempiere can unlock," says Faizal M Khalid, CEO, SODTech.

Enabling e-Governance
With e-governance gaining immense significance in the present era, ERP solutions for managing and integrating functions, databases and information systems in Government sectors have become unavoidable. It is no surprise that SODTech has been offering open source ERP solutions to government sectors and thus is a part of government's open source software drive. Partnership with ICFOSS further strengthens the company to offer iDempiere ERP management software to Indian government sector besides catering to large scale retail market. SODTech boasts to be the only IT firm to implement iDempiere in government sectors like Spices Board India. Integration with subsidy management system, bank interface and non availability of a structured accounting schema and dimensions definition was a challenge for SPICES BOARD INDIA. SODTech decided to venture outside its domain of application development, and acted as a guide for the client, providing consultation and best approach to roll out their process much smarter and error free. SODTech re-engineered the Chart of Accounts and ensured that all accounting dimensions are perfectly utilized for value added report generations.

Through bank integrations with SBT and Axis Bank, the payment files are reached to bank on payment approval from iDempiere and the status messages are updated back, which enables the payment tracking and bank reconciliation processes really simple.

It has also implemented a socio-cultural platform for the Oman government called 'ATHEER' that facilitates e-governance and helps the government interact with the citizens in an easy way.

Going Mobile
SODTech has the knack to smoothly implement today's new mobile technologies and help enterprises become more proactive and profitable. The company has comprehensive expertise and extensive experience in building rich, dynamic native and web-based mobile apps that support smartphones, tablets and other handheld devices. For instance, it has been working to develop and deploy an internal sales App for INTEL that will help its sales representatives to demonstrate various products and calculate points. Similarly, it has deployed M-commerce with MTN, one of the biggest telecoms in Africa with a mobile money platform that uses virtual money.

The list of SODTech's innovations does not end here, the company garnered huge praises for its innovative socio-cultural platform for the corporate and large organizations to work and play on a closed social ecommerce platform called FRIPPERS. "The next step in ERP is to see how businesses mature with enterprise mobility. ADempiere already has an enterprise mobility platform where all the modules can be integrated with ease," adds Faizal.

The organization not only looks to position itself as a highly reliable software company, but also as the most competent IT advising firm in the open source space. High on hopes, Faizal explicates, "When we look at the competition matrix, we see that ADempiere can compete with any proprietary software. With the solution of this caliber in hand, we are on a better side considering the cost and scalability in future as we provide unlimited enterprise license. I personally feel that businesses will be more conscious while making IT investments in days to come and will opt for something which is cost effective and efficient in the long run, and unlocks highest value using optimum resources. Eventually, open source will be the most viable option."
