Established in 2000, GlobalLogic is a full-lifecycle product development services leader that combines deep domain expertise and cross-industry experience to connect makers with markets worldwide.

The new generation of ever demanding customers, today, need things fast and want them to work seamlessly. There are several instances of high volume delivery during the festivities in India when demand for services becomes very challenging for technology service providers. So, while the sleek new features provide a lot of ease to the customer, it adds to the challenge of providing and maintaining them at a shorter notice.

We, at GlobalLogic, try solving problems by staying ahead of the curve through innovation as the defining value. Senior technical resources in the organization are vested towards quick prototypes of upcoming trends in the market, how things can be made better, faster and user-friendly. Multiple accelerators are also triggered to develop native ecommerce apps, do better first and last mile logistics and leverage the use of IoT in ecommerce – both digital and brick and mortar. The leadership in experience design thus, makes us an invaluable partner to clients, whom the company is able to suggest best solutions.

Technology to Revolutionize Retail Industry
The retail tech industry is just waking up to the use of Internet of Things (IoT) to make its behaviour truly omnichannel. Once institutionalized, it will spur a revolution in a lot of different areas – the in-store features, warehouse efficiencies and the seamlessness between the web and the physical store features. IoT has the potential to let retailers personalize customer outreach and service with laser-like precision and become more of a personal digital assistant to consumers.

We use our IoT, Big Data, Wearables and Design competencies to give customers a unique mix of possibilities that make them and their books look better. Promotions based on user demography, shoot-and-shop, buy online pay in-store, digitized and dynamic pricing, in-store app features are some of them. The company has been with top international and domestic retailers like Zappos, Myntra and Snapdeal on more efficient logistics, promised time of delivery and control tower solutions to give a better sense and control of their order tracking.

Besides, AADYA, a unique design group created by GlobalLogic helps to innovate for the ecommerce industry by leveraging technology not for business benefit alone but to build a stronger consumer connect. In addition, AADYA has helped keep the customer in focus and design solutions and experiences around them.

User- The Key Focus
Product design today is solely about the customer. People today want to develop software that is more usable, is non-invasive but yet gives users what they need before they ask. Besides, software is the common enabler across a lot of different businesses today. For instance, we have recently partnered with CityZenith on their smart cities projects. The tools therein will enable city governance to foresee problems before they occur and fix them.

Apparently, a lot of brick and mortar players are making their stores more 'browsable' and digitized as well. We are also working with agri-business companies who plan to use drones for as selective as-needed watering. With every business slowly becoming a software business, the set of problems are similar, for which cross-domain experience to use and resolve the problems has to be applied.

We have made investments in reference architectures and has accelerators that are available for free to customers in areas like retail, mobility and IoT that helps cut the time to market by tens of percentages and makes working with them really effective.

Word of Advice
People who have power in an organization are the ones who are generating revenue today for their business. Successful companies have reached ahead of competition because of their business or technology strategy. Companies cannot afford to be complacent and if they have a mindset of not investing in new technologies their businesses will be threatened. So it is extremely important for business leaders who generate today's revenue to invest in future technologies like IoT and M2M.

In other words, using technology to "change your business model" or to change the way you work will drive the next thrust of retail growth. Our software will need to be in-with-the-times and that might mean a complete overhaul of the current systems. Being left behind is not a luxury that anybody would enjoy today.(As told to Arunakshree Das)
